2012 Tournament Summary:

2012 Was the first year of the tournament. As most things go when they happen the first time there were some flaws. First of all the bidding system wasn't as smooth as it should have been and then then 5 player games just made the whole thing take too long.  Despite the problems I had fun and I think so did everyone that played. Phil Heid established himself as a Dominant force in Lion in Winter lore as he had two 1st place finishes and two 2nd place finishes to become the 2012 Lion in Winter Champion. His wife Katie was just behind him finishing 2nd, and Matt Musgrave fought his way to a third place finish.   

Some Highlights:  

In round 2 Matt Musgrave. had a whooping 53 points in Agricola to destroy the competition. Ben Ibershoff came in the tournament for the last 2 rounds and won both of them, taking the "Princes of Florence", and "Navigator" titles. This first year of the tournament saw 12 different players competing, and some of them would turn out to be forces in the tournament for years to come, and represent the 2012 rookie class.
